This tender, delicate cake takes either vanilla or chocolate frosting beautifully. The recipe makes enough batter for either a 2- or 3-layer cake or a sheet cake; if making a sheet cake you can either frost it in the pan or turn it out onto a large board or platter and decorate the sides too.
