This week’s interview on Food is with Tim Requarth, who is one of my favorite young-ish, new-ish writers. More than a year ago now, he wrote a piece for Slate about alcohol and health, and it fulfilled what I’d been looking for — a summary of the last few decades of research about alcohol, what was nonsense and what wasn’t, what the current thinking is when it comes to whether alcohol is healthy or unhealthy. We talked about sobriety — I’ve had some brushes with it — we talked about the less drinking trend (which seems like a real thing), and we talked about a bunch of other stuff that relates to alcohol and drinking. If you’re interested in any or all of this — this is a great podcast for you. Tim is articulate and smart and thoughtful, and he does great research.
