Ingredients

  • 8 ripe figs, stemmed
  • 2 tablespoons walnut oil or good- quality olive oil
  • 8 walnut halves, toasted
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Brush the figs with the walnut oil, then cut an X in the stem ends. Push 1 walnut half into each fig.
  2. If using a gas grill, heat it for medium direct cooking. If using a charcoal grill, after taking dinner off, add more coals if necessary and close the lid until  you’re ready to cook. In either case, clean the grates.
  3. Put the figs on the grill directly over the fire, stem side up. Close the lid and cook until the fruit softens, 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a platter, drizzle with the honey, and serve.
