1. Dandelion Chocolate Petite Praliné Easter Eggs and Signature Easter Egg
Talk about elevated. These are not your beloved Cadburys (in a good way). These eggs—either the minis or the signature, which looks like an egg but is actually chocolate with a vanilla marshmallow center encasing a caramel ‘yolk’—taste as good as they look, if you can believe it. I’m preemptively upset about the day that they’ll cease to be on my counter (it’s going to be soon; I currently have half of the signature left). – Kate

2. Obsessed with the Best: 100+ Methodically Perfected Recipes Based on 20+ Head-to-Head Tests
“There is no such thing as the best,” Ella Quittner writes in the introduction to Obsessed with the Best. Well, yeah. But that doesn’t stop most of us from trying to find it. Her book, she writes, “is basically clickbait incarnate … while it simultaneously inspects and criticizes my own drive to produce exactly that.” So of course I needed to have it. In reality, Quittner’s goal was not to produce “the best” of anything (because, again, “the best” doesn’t exist), but to figure out methods that produce the best flavor utilizing the minimal amount of work. You’ll find passionately tested recipes for basics like roast chicken (“My Way” and “Opulent”) and whipped cream (Salted, Milk and Honey, and more); plus surprises like Giant Frozen Bowties and Creamed Broccoli Stems and Cheddar. This book is so nerdy and so fun. We’ve got Ella’s recipe for Braised Tomato-Butter Cabbage for you, here. – Kate

3. Epicurean Cutting Boards

I finally got rid of all my plastic cutting boards and replaced them with Epicurean boards, made from eco-friendly paper composite. The Epicurean boards are light, durable, and won’t cause any wear and tear on your knives. Their little silicone feet keep the board from slipping around, and the groove around the edge helps catch any liquids. They’re dishwasher safe and available in a bunch of different sizes and colors. But, what I love most is that they’re easy to clean and don’t stain. I cut up some beets and, unlike my old plastic cutting boards, they didn’t leave the board looking like a crime scene. – Holly

Bob’s Red Mill
As the years have gone by, we’ve come to appreciate Bob’s Red Mill more and more for many reasons, but especially these two: One, they’re getting what were once difficult-to-find whole grains, legumes, and other ingredients (unsweetened coconut, for example), into mainstream American markets. The other has been Bob’s’ willingness to respond to trends in food and to create or find new and innovative products, like well-performing gluten-free flour, or fava and chickpea flours. Find the Bittman Project collection of recipes featuring Bob’s Red Mill here.
