This week on Food with Mark Bittman, Tony Shalhoub (Monk, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) and his daughter, writer Josie Adams, joined Kate and me to talk about their new book We Thought They’d Never Leave. It’s a memoir centered on the Shalhoub family’s legendary annual Wisconsin reunion, where ten siblings and fifty-some relatives gather every summer to cook, eat, and keep a very complicated spreadsheet. We get into the multiple pounds of fish Tony flew with on his lap, the night the power went out, food on set, and a prop beer bottle story that has to be heard to be believed.
Also! We’ve got an excerpt from We Thought They’d Never Leave, right this way.
