Hot Honey Firecrackers

PUBLISHED April 8, 2025

A top-tier snack needs sweetness, saltiness, a kick of heat, and lots of crunch. These put a twist on a Southern classic by swapping out ranch dressing for nutritional yeast and adding honey to balance the chili flakes. Traditional firecrackers soak the saltines in seasoned oil overnight, but this version switches the oil to melted butter, which contains water, so baking crisps up the crackers and shellacks the honey to their ridges. – Vanessa Lavorato
