1. Hedley & Bennett Smock
I was wearing my (eggshell blue) smock the other day and felt so cute that I knew I needed to bring it to your attention again. It’s an adorable, and very useful, cooking accessory: There’s no waist tie or string around your neck, which makes it super comfy and more like a cute dress that you wear for cooking. And there are a lot of nice colors and patterns. It’s a favorite of both Holly’s and mine (hers is embroidered with her name on it—you can do that by clicking the ‘customize it’ button). – Kate
2. Wafu Cooking: Everyday Recipes with Japanese Style, by Sonoko Sakai
We were supposed to have Sonoko on the podcast to talk about Wafu Cooking, but schedules happened and it fell through the cracks, which we regret because this book is wonderful. Born in New York to Japanese parents, Sonoko was raised in many places, including Japan, Mexico, and the US—but she considers Japan her home away from home. Her cooking, and recipes, reflect that mentality. “Wafu” translates to “Japanese style,” and Wafu Cooking is made up of recipes that are infused with Japanese personality. See: Miso Carrot Cake with Streusel Topping, Daizu Hummus with Beets, and Posole Japanesa—posole made with Sonoko’s ramen broth recipe. – Mark
3. Formaticum Cheese Storage Bags

These bags have dramatically cut back on the amount of plastic wrap we use in our home. Because, quite honestly, we eat a lot of cheese, but not a block at a time, so we need to be able to wrap that cheese up for another day. Just take your leftover cheese, any kind, put it in the bag, fold the bag. No need to wrap or use a rubber band or anything—the cheese will stay fresh in there and the bag is washable. Love ‘em. – Kate
4. Recipe Rec, Anyone?

We thought it’d be fun to add some recipe recommendations in here when we make something we really like. (We’d welcome your recommendations, and will include those, too!) This week’s shout out is to Mark’s One-Pot Stroganoff: It’s much less cumbersome than a traditional stroganoff and just as tasty. I actually first made it on a summer day (why? I can’t remember) but it would be great for right about now. And the leftovers are very good. – Kate
