1. Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro

Kate Bittman

Holly wrote about this lil oven a couple months ago, and she convinced me to get one, and lord almighty do I love it. I actually don’t remember the last time I turned my actual oven on, which is a major life hack for the upcoming sweaty months. I’ve made multiple trays of roasted broccoli, perfect bacon, the delicious oatmeal cookies pictured above, a single serving of salmon, heated up whole loaves of Bittman’s—you name it. It’s a toaster, it’s an oven, it’s an air fryer; it is not some trendy single-use gadget. I love her (name: Nomi, a la Showgirls). Also, the accompanying app (you don’t have to use it, but it’s really great) has recipes that, as Holly said to me the other day, just make you feel like you’re on auto pilot to a delicious dish. I’m so thrilled with this purchase.

2. Thrive Market

A bunch of you have written in to express your frustrations around not being able to check out the Thrive Market site without signing up. I also do not like when companies insist on this, so I made you a video walking you through a few parts of the site.

If there are specific things you’re interested in seeing, let me know! I’ve been a member since 2020, and I’ve saved a lot of money on staples, such as:

Etc. Etc. Etc. If you feel like trying it, you’ll get $20 off your first 3 orders, plus a free $60 gift of your choice.

3. Ohana Style: Food from Hawai’i, for Your Family

I interviewed Sheldon Simeon on the podcast and for this newsletter; that’s how cool I think he is. I’ve made multiple dishes from his first cookbook, Cook Real Hawai’i, and after having looked through his second book, Ohana Style, I can safely say that I’ll be utilizing it just as much. All the recipes in Ohana Style seem to have been developed for comfort, delight, tastiness, flavor, and fun: if you have guests over, you’ll want to make everything in here. Loaded Mandoo (made with frozen dumplings), Pimento Cheese Mochi Bread (I’m making this this weekend for friends), Broccoli Banchan, Lox & Schmear Onigiri, Furikake Animal Crackers: I’ll stop here.
